About the Japanese Gastroenterological Association (JGA) Awards |

The Japanese Gastroenterological Association recognizes selected outstanding clinical and basic papers written by JGA members, and presents them with the Association Awards with the aim of triggering academic activity and encouraging the young investigators among JGA members.
There are three types of Association Awards:
1. Award for Academic Excellence
This award is presented to between one and three top authors of original papers selected from among those published during the past year in Digestion, the official JGA journal, or those published in the other English journal after being presented at the Annual Meeting.
2. Best Case Report Award
This award is presented to one top author of a case report selected from among those published during the past year in Digestion, the official JGA journal, or those published in the other English journal after being presented at the Annual Meeting.
3. Young Investigators’ Achievement Award
This award is presented to three top authors (under 35 years of age) of original papers selected from among those published during the past year in Digestion, the official JGA journal, or those published in the other English journal after being presented at the Annual Meeting.
The winners of the awards are selected by the Association Award Screening Committee based on recommendations made by the directors, councilors or self-recommendations. The Committee may select the candidates from papers published by a JGA member as a top author in Digestion, the official JGA journal, with or without recommendations.
Screening Process
- Recommendations by the directors or the councilors are accepted before the end of August every year.
(Papers published between August of the previous year and July of the current year are eligible. )
The presenter shall complete Form 1 below, which is available in Japanese only, and send it together with 10 copies of the paper to the Association Award Screening Committee at the Secretariat of the Japanese Gastroenterological Association by the end of August.

The Association Award Screening Committee shall convene in October and November to select the winners by voting after confirming eligibility.

Announced in the Annual Meeting
The names of the winners, the organizations to which the winners belonged to at the time of writing, the titles of the award-winning papers and the names of the journals in which the papers appeared shall be published on the website.
The JGA Awards for the year 2011 will be announced at the 8th Annual Meeting.
Recommendations for the awards for the year 2012 are accepted now.
The form must be submitted to the secretariat office no later than August 31, 2012.
