Affiliation with the American College of Gastroenterology |

Being assigned by the chairperson of the Board of Directors, the JGA International Exchange Committee has been working on forming an affiliate program between the JGA and the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), and it was officially concluded as of March 2010. The JGA is now being introduced as one of the ACG International Affiliate Society on their official web site; www.acg.gi.org/physicians/about.asp
[Go to the above URL under "ACG International Affiliate Societies," and the JGA can be found following Brazil and Italy.]
We would like to continue to expand the range of international activities.
The ACG has a longer history than the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), and they are one of the high quality associations with focuses on the postgraduate clinical education and clinical research. Their official journal is the Am J Gastroenterol. Also, the ACG runs the program to grant an Over-sea trainee (refer to http://www.acg.gi.org/physicians/research.asp#cgi under "ACG International GI Training Grants"), with US$10,000 for the selected doctor to train in the United States. A non-ACG member could be selected for this, however, we encourage the JGA members to become the ACG member taking this opportunity.
We will do our best to gain more benefits for us and the expansion of both our associations by this affiliate program with the ACG. Our aim as the JGA is to help increase of the ACG members and enhance our influence on the relationship between JGA and ACG. Should you wish to become an ACG International Member and need the letter of support by the ACG members / fellows, please feel free to contact the JGA secretariat.
The ACG Annual Scientific Meeting this year will be held in San Antonio, Texas, from 15th to 20th of October. It is a beautiful city near Mexico, and we encourage everyone for their attendance.
